Six Types of Waiting in Berlin

Every culture’s sense of pacing is different. After moving to Berlin from New York City a few years ago, I’ve noticed that I run errands much slower and that I receive undivided attention only if waited my turn. Once your turn comes, you can ask as many questions as you like. In New York City, on the other hand, you can easily get your quick questions answered very quickly, unless they’re questions with longer answers. I have transitioned between musical notes and dynamics, which indicates being either aware of time or losing track of time.
